Asking the question, Should we learn, take advantage of the noise in our situations, rather than just eliminating them? What about AI?

When I was much younger and worked on cars, I had a hard time using that dang timing light. Such a simple concept, but I couldn’t grasp it. Finally, I made a offhand joke about it to a mechanic friend. He said, just listen, you will know then. Sure enough, it worked! Then I’d look at the timing light and it was on or almost on the mark! Just a small correction sometimes.

You know your car is having issues when you hear noises. I am not an engineer but the analysis of noise is key to debugging issues. Why not do the same in your life?

I was at a job for several years that I absolutely hated. Noise upon noise upon noise. I’d rescue a project and get it in successfully and get my arse written up! Why? Noise, noise, noise. I wasn’t managing the noise. I was ignoring the noise. Silly me focusing on results.

Honestly, if I had paid attention more to the noise, I am not sure the results would have been better. One has to judge when to interpret and respond to noise.

I am about to buy new hearing aids. The apps have gotten good enough that I will use the blue tooth ones. Looking forward to using them. Side note.
