Insipid Demands

I am going to sound like one of my favorite posters on Facebook. Yes, I mean that. He likes to post about narcissists.

One thing I’ve noticed is people making demands that are a bit insipid. Come on.

“When I leave a voicemail, I expect you to call back.” I am suddenly obligated? What is your time limit? Why are you making demands of me?

A friend gets me a job interview. Thanks, I truly appreciate it. For reasons, I could not disclose at the time, I turned down the job offer, and I told him. His response, You made me look bad. What? The interviewer knew why but he could or should not disclose at the time. Turns out the interviewer was golfing buddies with the owner of the company I worked for. I felt like my friend did not need to know that. Ha! As far as I know, golfing buddy never knew.

You are in a fantasy baseball league. You send me a trade offer that is so lopsided that I choose not to respond. He posts on the website that people are expected to counter. Um, no.

I am in a pickup soccer league. I get it, the guy running the league wants people to show up on time. If you show up late, you have to play keeper for ten minutes, which is fair. But he’s trying to step up the punishment, demanding that people show up on time. It is a pickup league! This is during work hours so I rarely go. Certainly not going now.
