Hmmm....good thoughts.

I've known kids that shut their parents down and I felt like they were doing the wrong thing. I'd often see and hear the parents bemoaning the situation. There is no denying some kids just do that.

I'd stay out of it honestly, beyond listening.

Me? Different story. My dad moved out of state and never reached out to me again. I mention this ONLY for this reason. People would guilt me for not pursuing him. I even had a GF drop me for this (and other reasons that are tied together, such as not being spiritual enough, SMH). This is where you have come in --- people have no business telling others what they should do in these situations, there is no way they know the facts. Maybe express the opinion but couch it as just that.
